Urine Elements are traditionally used to evaluate exposure to potentially toxic elements. Additionally, the comparison of urine element concentrations before and after administration of a chelator can be used to estimate net retention of potentially toxic elements. Subsequent urine element analyses, also following the administration of a chelator, are useful for monitoring the efficacy of metal detoxification therapy. Results are expressed per 24 hours or creatinine corrected to account for urine dilution effects.

PRACTICAL DETAILS
• Urine sample • Read the instructions provided in the test kit PRIOR to completing the test • Ship sample directly to the lab by Fedex (prepaid) • This is the POST test where you are to swallow the capsules of chelators found in the small manila envelope in the test kit (DMSA/EDTA/ DMPS) which MUST be taken at least 20 mins before meal. Collect urine for the next 6 hours. Ensure drinking at least 1L of water during the 6 hrs collection period. Take a sample of the 6 hr collection. • Any supplements or medications or foods or drinks can be consumed during this test. • Turnaround time: 2 weeks
